Sometimes it is ignorance, sometimes negligence and sometimes unmindfulness that so many Muslim homes have pictures of animate objects hung or stuck on the walls or either placed upright on the lounge table. Generally this is the practice of non-Muslims to display their loved ones (living and deceased) in the house.
Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) warned us not to keep pictures of animate things for fear of the angels not entering the home. Imagine being deprived of the presence of the angels of mercy bringing blessings and protection into the house. The house is a place where the menfolk find peace and tranquillity after the day's work. It is natural that everyone looks going home. The common saying, 'There is no place better than home' is something everyone desires irrespective of which walk of life the person comes from. Therefore, it is particularly important to safeguard the precincts of the house and create an atmosphere wherein the angels visit, for definitely we need their presence to enable us to live a pure and comfortable life.
