While many parents show responsibility of parential care in Islamic upbringing, unfortunately, some parents show little or no interest whatsoever. Sometimes, it’s just not understandable that parents totally neglect their duties as parents towards their children. No sense of responsibility and commitment is undertaken by them which inevitably results in a complete break up of a family unit.
Probably, the worst scenario is the children loosing their Islamic identity as Muslims which is not unheard of. There is basically no Islamic character and ethos in the children, who in essence, is the parent’s primal commitment in the life of their children. Today, all kinds of things are happening to our children from drugs (at tender age) to sexual indecency. To cite one example, recently a mother complained about her two daughters - both in high school Std. 9 and 10 - having no control over them. They are found often bunking school, sitting at the cinema with non-Muslim male ‘friends’, smoking even at home, standing up to their mother to retaliate and strangly sniffing glue. There are females, they are Muslims, brought up in a Muslim home but probably given little or no Islamic training.
Therefore, it is vital and important that our children are nurtured into an Islamic environment firstly at home as prescribed in the Noble Quran and the beautiful teaching of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam).
