It is a common sight to see Musallees wearing short sleeves when performing Salaat. It is Makrooh to read Salaat in this manner.
According to some Jurists, Salaat performed with short sleeves is not acceptable i.e. the Salaat is invalid. Our example is taken from Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) and his illustrious Sahaaba (Radhiallaahu Ánhum). They did not perform Salaat leaving the hands bare; the sleeves reached right up to their wrists.
When we stand before the Almighty Allah Taãla then part of our concentration is in our dressing. The casual look and attire is not a desirable sight. Our devotion and submission demands that we stand before Allah with utmost respect and character.
